Privacy Policy

DodoDeck is a local-first desktop app. This policy describes exactly what stays on your device and what is shared externally — and with whom — because DodoDeck includes a real purchase and license-activation flow that does communicate over the network. We do not claim that nothing ever leaves your device; the sections below say precisely what does and why.

What stays on your device only

DodoDeck stores the following exclusively in a local SQLite database in your Windows user profile, never transmitted anywhere by DodoDeck's own code:

• Your three cards' content: titles, dates, checklist tasks and their states, and Rough Page content (text, positions, sizes of everything on the page).
• Images and other files you attach to a Rough Page ("attachments"), stored as local files alongside the database.
• Archived cards — anything you archive is preserved in the same local database, in full, until you restore or the app is uninstalled.
• App preferences: appearance (font/size), dock position and state, Focus Dock (Pomodoro) session state, and wellbeing/reminder settings (coffee and water reminder schedules and their next-due timestamps).
• Your trial start date and current license status (trial active/expired, or licensed).

None of the above is uploaded, synced, or transmitted to us or to any third party. There is no DodoDeck account, no cloud backup, and no analytics or telemetry collecting any of this.

What is shared externally, and with whom

Dodo Payments (our payment processor)

DodoDeck's $5 one-time unlock is processed entirely by Dodo Payments, a third-party payment processor — not by DodoDeck or by Microsoft.

• When you choose to buy DodoDeck, you're taken to a checkout page hosted by Dodo Payments in your web browser. DodoDeck itself never sees, transmits, or stores your payment details (card number, billing address, etc.) — that page collects them directly, subject to Dodo Payments' own privacy policy and PCI-compliant payment processing.
• When you activate a license key inside DodoDeck (or when the app periodically re-checks that your license is still valid), DodoDeck sends your license key to Dodo Payments' servers to verify it, and receives back a confirmation and the email address associated with your purchase. That email address is then stored locally on your device (so DodoDeck can show it to you) — DodoDeck does not transmit it onward to anyone else.
• Your license key itself is stored locally on your device (used to re-validate your license); DodoDeck never writes a complete license key to its diagnostic logs.

Microsoft Store

If you installed DodoDeck from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft handles distribution and app updates. DodoDeck's own "Check for updates" action hands off to the Microsoft Store's update surface — DodoDeck does not run its own updater or transmit anything to Microsoft beyond what any Store app's normal install/update process involves. Windows system media ("Now Playing")

DodoDeck's Media Dock reads now-playing track metadata (title, artist, artwork) from Windows' own System Media Transport Controls — the same public system feature behind Windows' volume-mixer "now playing" flyout — so it can show what's currently playing from apps like Spotify or your browser. This is read directly from the operating system on your device only; DodoDeck never transmits this information anywhere, does not access or record actual audio, and does not know or care what specific app is playing beyond what's needed to display and control it.

What DodoDeck does not do

• No advertising, ad tracking, or ad networks.
• No analytics or usage telemetry of any kind.
• No account creation, sign-in, or user profiles.
• No cloud sync of your cards, tasks, or Rough Page content (as of this version).
• We do not sell or share any information for marketing purposes.

Children's privacy

DodoDeck is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your control over your data

Uninstalling DodoDeck removes its local database and settings the normal way any Windows app's data is removed. Because everything except the purchase flow above is local-only, there is nothing on our end to export or delete on your behalf beyond what Dodo Payments and Microsoft separately hold under their own privacy policies (linked above) as your payment processor and distribution platform, respectively.

Changes to this policy

If DodoDeck's data practices change in a future version (for example, if cloud sync is ever introduced), this policy will be updated accordingly before that version ships, and the date above will change.
